BALKAN TOUR CROATIA & MONTENEGRO 9 days, 8 nights

Day 1. ZAGREB

  • Upon arrival at Zagreb Airport, transfer to hotel for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Day 2. ZAGREB –PLITVICE

  • Morning city tour includes the fortified Upper Town, the City's historical centre, St.Mark's Church with its multicolored roof, the Cathedral, the Croatian National Theatre and the University. In the afternoon we proceed to Plitvice National Park. Dinner and overnight accommodation are arranged in Plitvice.

Day 3. PLITVICE

  • After breakfast we tour the Plitvice National Park that is a part of UNESCO's List of World Natural Heritage. The waters flowing over the limestone and chalk have over thousands of years deposited reverting barriers creating natural dams, which in turn have created a series of beautiful lakes, caves and waterfalls. These geological processes continue even today. Dinner and overnight accommodation are arranged in Plitvice.

Day 4. PLITVICE –TROGIR –SPLIT

  • After breakfast we depart towards small town-museum Trogir, where we visit St. Lawrence Cathedral. Upon arrival in Split we have sightseeing tour of Old City that includes the Diocletian's Palace (305 A.D.) on the UNESCO's List of World Cultural Heritage with Peristil Square, Jupiter's Temple, Cellars and the Cathedral. Dinner and overnight accommodation are arranged in Split.

Day 5. DUBROVNIK

  • After breakfast we depart for Dubrovnik. Upon arrival we will tour Dubrovnik and see the Franciscan Monastery with Europe's third oldest pharmacy, the Rector's palace and the Cathedral. You will have free time to explore the fortified City Walls that encircle Dubrovnik and provide the splendid view of the city surroundings and of the open sea. Dinner and overnight are arranged at the hotel in Dubrovnik.

Day 6. DUBROVNIK

  • Day at leisure in Dubrovnik. Dinner and overnight accommodation are arranged in Dubrovnik.

Day 7. DUBROVNIK – HERCEG NOVI-RISAN –PERAST – KOTOR --BUDVA

  • In the morning we will depart for Montenegro. We will pass through Herceg Novi the city known for centuries as Castelnuovo and will continue along the magnificent Boka Kotorska bay offering exquisite view of the bay. Our trip along the Boka bay will bring us to the town of Rizon, dated back to the 4th century B.C. where you will see the beautiful and ancient Roman mosaics. Continued journey will bring us to Perast, an amazing town with almost the same number of churches as the number of inhabitants. There we will enjoy the beautiful scenery and archaic architecture of this old historical town. We will continue to Kotor for the guided visit of the town and a chance to enjoy the history of this renowned town. Maritime museum and the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon are highlights of Kotor. Kotor will also be our rest stop where we will have an opportunity to enjoy some refreshments. Afterwards, our journey continues to Budva, one of the oldest settlements on the Adriatic. According to legend, it was founded by Kadmo, son of the Fenician king Agenon. We will make a tour of the town and of the quite interesting local fair. Lastly we visit St. Stefan, an amazing town. St. Stefan is both an island and a peninsula; an island during the duration of high water and a peninsula while low water takes its rule. St.Stefan area is famous for its sandy beaches and there we will be able to enjoy the swim in the peaceful Adriatic. Dinner and overnight accommodation are arranged in Budva.

Day 8. BUDVA – CETINJE

  • We travel by bus from the coast and over the mountain enjoying the beautiful sight of the coast and nice scenery, of the old capital of Montenegro, Cetinje. Here we will visit the palace of King Nicola I and see Cetinje Monastery, the place from where Montenegrin bishops ruled this small country. We continue the trip over Mount Lovcen, where everything is green, and stop in the village of Njeguši for a taste of local specialties. We then drive down the mountain and famous Lovcen serpentines to the unique fiord-Bay of Kotor. We will continue our trip to Dubrovnik driving along the Bay of Kotor. Dinner and overnight accommodation are arranged in Dubrovnik.

Day 9. DUBROVNIK

  • After breakfast the tour ends with the transfer to Dubrovnik Airport.
